Magdalena Siwicka
About
Magdalena Siwicka, born in Gdynia, Poland, is a photographer based in London. She studied photography at the Łódź Film School in Poland, where she received a master's degree. Magdalena's work reflects her interests in documentary photography and its intersection with fine art, with a focus on portraiture. Her practice focuses on building strong relationships with her subjects, highlighting the interplay between intimacy and tension.
Between 2014 and 2021 Magdalena was an active part of the photography collective Gasoline Pictures, based between the UK, US and France. She was involved in numerous collaborative projects with Gasoline and her work has been published in several issues of the collective's magazine of the same name.
Her work has also been featured in The New York Times, AnOther Magazine, i-D, Wonderland, Clash, Der Greif, Novara Media, Vogue Poland, Double Magazine, Newsweek, Fisheye Magazine, among others.
Magdalena has been shortlisted three times for the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize, in 2019, 2021, and 2026.
In 2025, her portrait of journalist Ash Sarkar was selected as a winner of the British Journal of Photography's Portrait of Britain.
